health benefits

Massage Therapy has many benefits to the general heath of the body.  Massage works directly on the muscle systems of the body and is considered a passive exercise.  People who have been paralyzed have physical therapy and massage because it helps keep muscle tone.  Just like exercise, massage affects the circulation of blood flow, heart rate, and the lymphatic system which in turn affects other systems of the body.  Meanwhile, massage is inducing a state of relaxation, which also causes changes to the body's systems.  Therefore, massage doesn't only feel great, but it has many positive effects.

Unfortunately there are some medical conditions in which massage therapy is not appropriate, such as- local infections, edema or swelling in the body, fever, bruising, broken bones, various heart conditions, and varicose veins.  The body is being compromised by these conditions and massage may worsen the situation.  However, there are many Conditions that Benefit from Massage Therapy.
